Parà Folgore, El Alamein

Posted by Giovanni on martedì 14 febbraio 2012 , under , , , , , , , | commenti (0)

Ciao a tutti,

Has been a while since I've posted something on my blog, but work, holidays and a long travel have led me away from modelling.

During the past months I've sculpted a figure (stay tuned) and I've painted this figure for a friend, is from La Meridian miniatures and has been sculpted by Pizzichemi.

The cast was good really few bubbles holes and cast seems, the mine handle a little bit to fragile, but an easy replacement with a bit of copper wire.

I've to thank my friend Alberto Cazzavillan for his help in finding the right documentation, thanks so much Alberto!!!

So guys, let me know what you think!

Ciao

Dubat completed

Ciao a tutti,

I've completed this Dubat figure from La Meridiana, a really nice figure to paint if you are lucky with the casting!

I decided to add the rifle strap, and I could have added the "billao" the typical Somalian small dagger these warriors use to wear.

I've attached at the end a picture of the Billao and a photo from the period.

Also, so you know if you want to paint it, these warriors used to wear different pattern for their futa (the long skirt) sometimes checks, stripes or even tartan patterns, what was always white was the turban, again check the photos at the end of the table.

Keep in mind that after 1935 the "futa" became khaki and not white anymore.

Hope this help; let me know what you think!

Ciao

WIP Dubat

Ciao a tutti,

I've taken a small break from the French lieutenant, I'm waiting for the new iMac to arrive, so I'll be able to make video quicker, without having to restart my computer all the times!!

I've decided to paint a really nice piece from La Meridiana, the Dubat, in my case the Chief (you can say that by the colour of the red rope) black was for the sub chief and green for the Chief Commander.

The piece has been sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi and is part of the Italian colonial subject from this firm.

I've to say that the cast is very, very poor, so poor, I wanted to bin it, then I decided to use putty and fix it.

I do know for sure that mine has been an isolated case, everyone I've talk to tell me La Meridiana pieces are really well casted usually, I've just been really unlucky this time.

Anyway, have a look at these pics, flesh has been finished, white clothes, red rope and leathers need some touch ups, rifle and metal parts have only basecoat.

Any comment is more than welcome.

Ciao
