I'm going on with the sculpting of de Rigny.

I'm sculpting the pellisse with all the laces and trimmings. It took me 7 or 8 attempts to get to this point, I probably should have tried with a different putty, like Duro, oh well, next time will be better.

I'm not 100% happy but as a first attempt is ok, first time I tried I've managed to have only 8 rows on the pellisse, now we are at 16th!!

Anyway, I'm now waiting for few missing items to carry on.

I'm sculpting our Gaulthier, and for the first time I'm using a technique to replicate the 2D painting in a 3D sculpture.

I've printed the paintinc and with a ruler took the dimension, also, while sculpting I keep comparing the sculpture with the painting by simply putting the figure in front of the printed paper.

The more challenging part is to sculpt a face close enough to the one in the painting, I think I did achieve something similar..ish...

The only commercial part are the lower part of the boots, took from an old Metal Modeles hussar leg set.

Hope you like it, now the really difficult part, making the Pellisse!!!!!!

My dear friend Francesco Simoncini (one of the greatest expert on hussars in the world!) has started a thread on figurinitaly on the 2nd hussar's regiment and among all the images he posted the one below.

He's Gaulthier de Rigny, a colonel in 1809, and I've decided to sculpta figure, using the same pose and proportion, basically trying to make a 3D version of the painting.

Won't be an easy task (I hope to succeed) but I love the style of the painting.

I've had the opportunity to paint the box art or this masterpiece, sculpted by Adriano Laruccia edited by Masterclass.

The figure is Giuseppe Garibaldi, the "Hero of the Two Worlds" in tribute to his military expeditions in both South America and Europe.

Th sculpture is superb, as well as the casting, perfect fit of the various parts, and almost no mold lines to be removed.

Laruccia is one of my all time favourite sculptor and he has done an amazing job in making a portrait of our "Giuseppe", the uniform has been taken from a famous photography of our hero, again a perfect rention in scale from Adriano.

The Horse has one of the most beautiful head I ever painted, about the horse, Giuseppe Garibaldi mounted for most of his life Marsala a white/grey horse, which was with him until her death. Garibaldi ordered to build a small funerary monument in Sardinia where the horse still rest in peace.

I hope you will have the opportunity to paint this piece, I highly recommend it, and you will have the chance to celebrate with us the 150 year of the Italian republic.

di una casa per bambine abbandonate a Kinshasa.

As you may have read in my previous post I've created a little figurine that will be sold to help raise founds for charity.
This year the funds will help Maman Helene (Helene Alemusuey) to buy an hose for the abandoned children in Kinshasa.

I've finally managed to finish painting the "marinaio", this is the master sculpture rebuilt and will be sold on auction to raise money for charity.

I missed the chevrons on the left arm and the writing on the hat ribbon.

Soon I will receive the finished figures and I'll be able to launch the website and start the charity project.

I will keep you posted, for the time being please let me know what you think!

I've sent the pre production pieces to the foundry, I hope I will get the final products by the end of the month, beginning of June.

I've also started to paint the master which will be sold on auction to raise even more funds.
